Cloud accounts

Connect a cloud account

Connecting takes a browser sign-in and a few choices. Keepfin never sees your password.

Updated November 5, 2026 · For Keepfin 1.0

Start#

On Windows

Go to Settings → Storage & copies and press Add a copy, then choose A cloud account.

On Android

Go to Settings → Storage & copies, press Add a copy and choose A cloud account.

Google Drive and Dropbox#

  1. Choose the service: Google Drive or Dropbox (on Android the buttons read Sign in with Google Drive and so on).
  2. Your browser opens the service's own sign-in page. Finish there. Keepfin is waiting, and you can cancel.
  3. The service asks you to allow Keepfin. Allow it. Keepfin asks for the least access possible, which is only its own folder.
  4. Back in Keepfin, the account appears with its free space. Choose the folder name on the account (Keepfin keeps the copy in a folder called Keepfin/<name>), or use a copy another device already made there.
  5. Continue with the same steps as any copy: what it holds, how it syncs (two-way is a good choice for a shared cloud copy), a name, and the first sync preview.

If a copy made by another of your devices is already on the account, Keepfin lists it under Already on this account, with Use on this computer or Use on this phone so both devices share it.

WebDAV (Nextcloud, ownCloud, a NAS)#

  1. Choose WebDAV.
  2. Enter the Server address (starting with https://), your User name and an App password. Use an app password, not your main password.
  3. Press Connect. Keepfin shows what the server supports.
  4. Name the Folder on the server. It is made if it is not there.

Keepfin stores the password encrypted on this device only.

Space and limits#

Keepfin shows the free space in plain words and checks it before copying, for example when the account would not have enough room. When a service limits how fast Keepfin may work, Keepfin slows down and says so.

Mobile data (Android)#

On Android

Copies on a cloud account only sync on Wi-Fi. If you want them to use mobile data too, switch on Use mobile data for the account. The setting is per account.
