Copies

Extra files for other players

Some players cannot read playlists or newer audio formats. Three optional extras on a copy fix that, without touching your originals.

Updated November 5, 2026 ยท For Keepfin 1.0

The three switches#

Open a copy on a drive or folder and go to its Extra files tab (on Android the switches are on the copy's card). Cloud copies and copies on another device do not have them.

  • Playlist files: a .m3u8 file for each playlist, in a Playlists folder, so other players can open them.
  • One flat folder: a second copy of every file in one folder, for players that cannot read folders inside folders.
  • MP3 versions: an MP3 of each song that is not an MP3, for devices that only play MP3. Each song is converted once.

Where they live#

These extra files are in folders called "Playlists" and "Keepfin Exports" on the copy. They are made from your library, are never added to it, and changing them on the copy (in the car, say) never changes your originals. If you turn a switch off, Keepfin removes the extra files again.

A car stick recipe#

  1. Add a Mirror copy on the USB stick that holds only your car playlists.
  2. Turn on Playlist files and, if your stereo needs it, One flat folder and MP3 versions.
  3. Plug the stick into the car. It stays in step whenever you plug it into your computer.
