Copies
When copies sync
Copies sync by themselves when they can. You can also run, pause or schedule them.
The ways a copy syncs#
- By itself when the copy becomes available (the drive is plugged in, the card is back, the account is reachable) and when your library changes.
- On a schedule, if you add one on Windows: Also every 6 hours, Also every 12 hours or Also once a day.
- With Sync now on a copy, or Sync all.
Pause stops a running sync safely. Resume continues where it stopped.
What the card says#
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Up to date | Nothing is waiting. |
| Waiting to sync | Changes are queued (the card counts the files). |
| Syncing | Running now, with progress. |
| Paused | You paused it. |
| Not connected | The drive, card or device is not here. Nothing is missing. |
| Needs your OK | A large change is waiting for you. |
| Check the first sync | The first sync still needs to be confirmed. |
| Needs review | Something needs a decision. |
| Not synced yet | Added, but not synced yet. |
| Some files not copied | A file could not be copied; the copy says why. |
| Cannot be used | Keepfin could not use it; the copy says why. |
On Android: large copies wait#
On Android
A background sync that has to put more than about 500 MB or 2,000 files on a copy is large. A large background sync waits until the phone is charging or on an unmetered network such as home Wi-Fi. A small one goes at once. Sync now is never held: if you tap it, it runs.
Copies on a cloud account only use Wi-Fi unless you allow mobile data for that account. Copies on another device wait for Wi-Fi unless that device is allowed to use mobile data.
