Formats and quality

Keepfin shows what a link really offers, with an estimated size for each choice, before it downloads anything.

Updated November 5, 2026 · For Keepfin 1.0

Video quality#

Each quality is listed once per height, frame rate and HDR setting, with its codec, container and the estimated total size including the audio. A size with a "~" is an estimate. Some qualities are a single stream with the audio already included, and Keepfin says so.

The choices depend on the site. Up to 8K is available where the site offers it. When a link does not list its formats, Keepfin says so and saves the best available video and audio.

Audio options#

For audio you choose a format (MP3, M4A, Opus, FLAC or WAV) and a quality, or an original audio stream to keep the source untouched. When a video has several audio tracks you can pick one with Audio track.

Extras you can turn on#

These are on the Extras tab of the review, and you can set defaults in Settings → Downloads under Default download options.

  • Subtitles: Save subtitles, pick languages, include Automatic captions too, and save them next to the file or Put them inside the file.
  • What goes in the file: Cover, Tags and Chapters.
  • Sponsor parts (on YouTube): Keep, Mark as chapters, or Remove.
  • Cut a part: Choose start and end to download only part of a video.
  • Split into files by chapter: One file per chapter for long mixes and albums.
  • Also save beside the file: the cover image, the description as a text file, or an info file.

Speed#

Keepfin runs several downloads at once (3 by default on both apps, adjustable in Settings → Downloads under Parallel downloads). Some sources are split into pieces that are fetched together (Concurrent fragments on Windows, Fragments per download on Android). There is also an optional multi-connection transfer (Turbo transfer on Windows, Turbo transfers on Android). It is off by default and often makes no difference on fast links. Keepfin does not promise a speed, because it depends on the site and your connection.
