Getting started
Install Keepfin on Android
Keepfin for Android is an APK file from the official GitHub release. It needs Android 8 or later. You install it from your browser or your Files app.
Install the APK#
- Open the download page in your normal browser. A chat or social app's built-in browser may hide file downloads.
- Download the APK and wait for it to finish. Browsers often ask you to confirm because the file is not from the Play Store.
- Open the file. The first time, Android asks whether this browser or Files app may install apps. Review that, allow it, and go back.
- Tap Install. Then open Keepfin.
Is it safe?#
The APK comes from the same release repository as the Windows files. Check the file name, version and size on the release page, and, when GitHub shows one, the checksum. A matching checksum shows that you have the file from the release. It does not prove software is safe on its own.
Updating#
Keepfin tells you when a new version is available, with a marker in the header and a short note about what changed. Choose Update now, or look in Settings → About Keepfin and press Check for updates. Updates install over the existing app, so your folder and settings stay. Do not uninstall first just to force an update.
Permissions Keepfin asks for#
Keepfin asks for very little, and nothing is required to start. It uses the system folder picker for your Keepfin folder, so it does not need access to all your files. On the last start page you can allow Notifications (download progress and play controls) and, with Keepfin Complete, Music and videos, which lets Keepfin find files an earlier install saved so it can bring them into the new folder (see First start).
