Removing versus deleting
Keepfin keeps these two apart on purpose: taking something out of a list is never the same as deleting the file.
At a glance#
| You do this | What happens |
|---|---|
| Remove a download from history | The file stays. Only the entry in the list goes. Active downloads cannot be removed. |
| Remove a space | The files stay where they are. The space leaves the library. |
| Take a playlist off a copy or device | Nothing is deleted anywhere. The copy simply stops holding it. |
| Delete file… | A confirmed action. The file waits in Trash for 30 days (Settings → Storage & copies → Trash), where Restore brings it back with its tags, favorite, plays and playlist places. With copies, it also follows the rules in Earlier versions and trash. |
Deleting a file#
Choose Delete file… in an item's menu and confirm. Every change in the library shows a notice with Undo, which reverses only that change. To skip the trash, tick Delete for good when you delete. If other places hold the file, deleting it from your library is a separate decision: in a two-way copy the deleted file waits 30 days in Keepfin's trash first, and on a backup it stays as an earlier version until you clean up.
