Devices

Away from home

At home your devices find each other. Away from home they cannot, so you reach one by its address.

Updated November 5, 2026 · For Keepfin 1.0

Add a device by address#

Open the add-by-address box (see Pair by address) and type the other device's address: an IP address, a computer name, or a Tailscale name such as hisham-pc.tailnet.ts.net. If the device does not use the default port (47215), add it after a colon. Once paired, Keepfin remembers the address.

With Tailscale#

Install the Tailscale app on both devices and sign in to the same Tailscale network. The two devices can then reach each other from anywhere, and Keepfin syncs and uses Download on… and Play from exactly as at home. Keepfin has no account or relay server of its own; Tailscale does the reaching.

Mobile data#

Syncing files over mobile data is off by default and can be switched on per device. The small library list still syncs. See What each device may do.

Another way: a shared cloud copy#

Two devices that are rarely on the same network can also meet through one shared cloud copy: both sign in to the same cloud account (see Cloud accounts).
